Dr. Rachelle LaPrade

Growing up in California, Dr. LaPrade competed on the Hunter/Jumper circuit, starting in the pony divisions and culminating in the Junior Hunters and Medals. She also advanced through the Pony Club ranks, ultimately achieving her ‘B’ rating. Dr. LaPrade headed east for college, graduating from Yale University in 1993 with a BA in biology. She followed that with a 1997 graduation with Phi Zeta honors from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduation she has opened and sold two successful solo ambulatory equine practices, in Oakland, CA and Des Moines, IA.
As an accomplished equestrian, Dr. LaPrade carries her deep-seated understanding of the functionality and performance of horses to her veterinary practice.
Dr. LaPrade lives in Connecticut with her husband and two dogs. She has four children scattered throughout New England. She competes her Hanoverian Caspar in the amateur jumpers. Outside of horses, she enjoys hiking, running, reading, and traveling.
